Upper Hudson Bluegrass Festival

NORTH CREEK The fifth annual Upper Hudson Bluegrass Festival will open its gates to the grounds Thursday, August 21 at noon for camper parking. Music starts Friday at noon and continues until 10:15 p.m. Appearing on stage Friday will be Dave Nichols and Spare Change, Blue Lightning, Sweet Cider, John Hudson & Friends, Beartracks, and the Doerfel Family, and an open stage is scheduled at 4:45 p.m, (13 sets with nine hours & 30 minutes of music). On Saturday the music starts at 10 a.m. and continues non-stop through 10:45 p.m. The day features two one-hour sets with James King (1 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.). Also appearing on Saturday will be Dave Nichols & Spare Change, the Atkinson Family, Smokey Greene, Cabin Fever, John Hudson & Friends, Beartracks, and Southern Rail, (17 sets and 12 hours 45 minutes of music). Sunday morning 8:30-9:30 a.m. there will be a gospel concert. Music for the day will start at 10 a.m. with the ageless Smokey Greene and continue to a closing set at 4 p.m. with the very same Smokey Greene, a festival tradition. Also appearing Sunday will be Southern Rail, Cabin Fever, the Atkinson Family, and John Hudson & Friends (nine sets and six hours 45 minutes of music). Advance three-day tickets will be on sale until August 15 for $35 per person, at the gate tickets for the three days will be $42. The three-day ticket includes camper parking (no hook-ups), water fill and a for-fee septic dumping Sunday. The gate to the grounds will open Thursday, August 21 at noon and close Monday, August 25 at noon. Tickets will be available at the gate for Friday only $15, Saturday all day $20 (after 5 p.m. $10), Sunday all day $12. Again this year our sound will be provided by Green Mountain Music (Pete and Cora Bolster), our MCs will be Don Hudson and Mike Tirellia. We will have a Martin Guitar raffle courtesy of Dave Nichols Custom Pearl Inlay and the Martin Guitar Company, CD raffles, T-shirt and hat sales, musical supplies and other concessions. Again in direct response to the requests of our attendees we will have a varied and expanded food concession to serve you. Look also for a vocal workshop on Saturday afternoon hosted by Southern Rail. Upper Hudson Festivals, Inc. is a nonprofit supporting local musical students and events such as the Concert by the River series.
