Matthew Dalosio to speak in Keene Valley

KEENE VALLEY Matthew W. Daloisio, a member of Witness Against Torture, the board of the War Resisters League, and the New York Catholic Worker, and an associate editor of The Catholic Worker newspaper will present Restoring the Constitution: The First 100 Days Campaign at the Keene Valley Congregational Church Friday, August 8, at 7 p.m. Mr. Daloisio was one of thirty-four Americans arrested at the Supreme Court on January 11, 2008 charged with and convicted of "unlawful free speech" for protesting indefinite detention and torture at Guantanamo. Mr. Daloisio read the opening statement at trial at which the defendants represented themselves, mounting a spirited defense of their First Amendment rights to protest the gross injustice of abuse and indefinite detention at Guantanamo Bay.
