Gallery hosts painter of vintage scenes

BOLTON LANDING The Lakeshore Gallery on Main St. is presenting the oil paintings of Molly Dee beginning this week. Her show Visions of Summers Past, opens August 8 and runs through August 27. Born in Buffalo, Dee has shown her work all over the nation, but primarily in Nantucket, Massachusetts, which has inspired many of her scenic paintings. Dees style, which is inspired by vintage photographs, is contemporary yet nostalgic, with many of her works portraying the people, places and emotions of the early 20th century, a Gallery spokesperson said. Using a limited color palette and large canvas, Dees work is eye-catching, capturing scenes of the Adirondacks, Saratoga, and New England in a fresh and engaging manner. An artist's reception will be held for Dee on Friday, Aug. 8 from 6-8 p.m. Drinks and hors doeuvres will be served.
