Heart-in-Hand Knitters make seniors smile

MIDDLEBURY Talented senior citizens gathered for a meal at the VFW in Middlebury recently to display 14 blankets and three lap robes. The pieces were created by Ilsley Public Librarys Heart-in-Hand Knitters, a cabin-fever group that meets from January to March to work on blankets to be donated to charity. This year all the blankets were given to the Addison County Meals on Wheels program to be given to seniors in the community in need of warmth or perhaps just needing to know that someone cares. Knitters ranged from eight to retirees some were beginners and some were experts at their craft. Blankets were assembled by Ellie Bliss, Dr. Patrice Colander, and Youth Services Librarian Carol Chatfield from the blocks donated by knitters.
