TICONDEROGA The second annual LaChute Spring Cleaning is slated Saturday, May 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last years cleanup brought out more than 100 community volunteers to work together with local youth to clean up along the LaChute River Walk Trail. Over 5 yards of garbage was removed as well as 14 tandem loads of wood chips from brush volunteers cleared. I hope that this years clean up will be even bigger than last years, CYC director Kristi Mars stated. It was amazing what this group accomplished last year in just one day. It would wonderful if we get private companies involved again offering support and equipment this year like we did last year. This event offers local youth an opportunity to work with adults in the community on a project that beautifies our local area, Mars said. There will be a special event planned with the induction of a bench along the walking trail donated by the Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union. This will be a wonderful addition to the trail offering walkers, runners and bicyclists a place to take a break and drink in the beautiful surroundings. To participate in the clean up or to make a monetary donation to purchase items for the clean-up, or for information, contact Mars at 585-6366. All are welcome, all ages, bring the whole family and make a day of it, Mars said.
