QUEBEC CITY The Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce is accepting registration for interested businesspeople and economic developers in the North Country for the fourth Quebec-New York Economic Summit, scheduled for Tuesday, May 20, in Quebec City. The summit will be officially hosted by Quebec Premier Jean Charest and is being co-organized by the Quebec and New York State governments, the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec. The theme of this years event is Quebec-New York: the Green Corridor, with sessions and speakers devoted to branding and developing the Quebec-New York Corridor region as North Americas first international green corridor. The summit is the fourth in a bi-annual series of Quebec-New York economic summits provided for in the Quebec-New York Corridor Agreement of 2001. The first summit was held in Plattsburgh in 2002, and subsequent summits were held in Montreal and Albany. The original Quebec-New York Corridor Agreement identified a multi-faceted agenda for promoting shared economic progress in the bi-national region, including initiatives in transportation, border operations, technology sectors, energy and tourism. Registration for the May 20 summit is now open and the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce encourages early registration in order to take advantage of limited hotel room availability.
