Women's tennis slips past Stonehill, 5-4; earns right to host St. Anselm

COLCHESTER The Saint Michaels College womens tennis team (13-5, 10-2 NE-10) clinched the #2-seed in the Northeast-10 Conference quarterfinals with their second 5-4 victory in as many days over Stonehill College (14-5, 9-3 NE-10) Sunday afternoon in Colchester. Freshman Marran Ranks (Stratham, N.H./Exeter) won her No. 5 singles match 6-4, 7-5 and teamed with senior Megan Conway (Lynnfield, Mass./Lynnfield) to win No. 2 doubles 8-4. Concluding the 2007-08 Northeast-10 regular season an as the fourth seed, the Saint Michaels College mens tennis team (8-7, 7-3 NE-10) dropped a 9-0 decision to Stonehill (16-5, 9-1 NE-10) Sunday afternoon in Easton, Massachusetts. The Purple Knights will host a #4/#5 quarterfinal matchup with Bentley, who Saint Michael's defeated 8-1 on Oct. 14, 2007. Womens Singles Competition 1. Lindsey Herchel (STO) def.
