Video Flick of the Week

Marty Heres a classic from 1955 that made waves when it was released because of its intense realism. Marty stars Ernest Borgnine as a lonely Italian butcher who, despite constant arranging by friends and family, is unable to woo a woman into his life. All of that changes one night when he meets another equally lonely stranger. Although the plot may sound simple, the delivery of this picture is wrought with emotional intensity. Crowds went wild upon its release, culminating in Oscar wins for Best Picture, Actor, Director, and Screenplay. Check this one out if youre in the mood for some great old-fashioned acting on a subject that is far from nostalgic.
