Pope named NEWLA defensive player of the week

CASTLETON Meredith Pope, a Castleton State College student from Montpelier, has been named the New England Womens Lacrosse Alliances defensive player of the week. Pope back-stopped Castleton to a 4-0 week, including three conference wins. The junior goalie started all four games, ending the week with a 6.00 goals against average. Pope stopped 25 shots for a .581 save percentage in 180 minutes of play. Pope was also named the NEWLA defensive player of the week for her efforts. The junior goalie has started all seven games this season and has led Castleton to a 5-2 mark, its best seven-game start in history.
