GOP to honor ex-mayor

RUTLAND The Rutland City Republicans will honor Jeffrey Wennberg with an evening of tributes and discussion on Friday, April 18, at South Station Restaurant in Rutland. Wennberg is a former mayor of Rutland City (1987-99) and past commissioner of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation. He served as president of the Rutland City School Board during the 1980s and also served as Rutlands planning coordinator under former Mayor Jack Daley. At the April 18 dinner, University of Vermont political scientist and humorist Frank Bryan will present Why Vermont State Government Doesn't Work in 30 Minutes or Less. The spirited evening will also serve as a fundraising event for the City Republican Party.
