Sister Janice Ryan, a Roman Catholic nun, was elected to serve on the Board of Directors of Opportunities Credit Union. She was former assistant deputy of corrections and president of Trinity College; the college closed in 2001. Opportunities Credit Union is a regulated financial institution dedicated to serving the emerging markets of low wealth individuals and organizations that serve them. Founded in 1989 by the Burlington Ecumenical Action Ministry, Opportunities Credit Union has grown into being one of Vermont's top 10 credit unions with over 9,000 members throughout the state.
