AEDC announces new executive director

SARANAC LAKE The Adirondack Economic Development Corporation announced the appointment of Michael R. Conway as its new executive director which went into affect April 1. Conway has over twenty years experience in economic development in communities in New York, Wisconsin, Maine and Ohio. He currently resides in Orchard Park, NY with his wife, Claudia and son, Sean. Two older children live in Cleveland and Miami. Conway has started and developed lending organizations, managed a national credits and incentive practice for a large public accounting firm, led economic development organizations in urban and rural areas and has been a leader on small and large economic development projects. He has a Masters Degree in Public Administration Conway was chosen after a nationwide search was conducted over a twelve month period. The AEDC underwent an intense strategic planning process which yielded a strong focus, going forward, on the economic development of micro-enterprise in the Adirondacks. Mikes track record demonstrates a complementary wealth of balanced, relevant experience and accomplishments large and small in economic and community development with an added strength in marketing,said Chandler Ralph, Chair of the Board of the AEDC. His vision for the new AEDC plan sets a serious but one step at a time pace as he sets out to raise a new banner for AEDC and its potential resourcefulness and impact across the Adirondack region. Nancy Howard, AEDC board member and Chair of the Search Committee stated, The search was dedicated to finding a leader who'd embrace with spirit the refreshed AEDC strategic plan, someone ready to bring new energy to the complex aspects of supporting sustainable business on the Adirondack landscape.
