Shelburne boat fire was arson

SHELBURNE On April 3 at approximately 7:20 p.m. Shelburne Fire Department, Police Department, and Shelburne Rescue responded to Tamarack Road in Shelburne for a boat fire. Fire Chief Craig Wooster advised upon their arrival two of the five boats that were stored there were engulfed in fire. Competent professional fire suppression efforts were effective in quickly extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading to the adjacent conveyances. Chief Wooster contacted the Vermont State Police to request assistance with a so-called origin and cause investigation. Fire Investigators from the Vermont State Police and the Vermont Division of Fire Safety responded to the scene. The results of the investigation showed the fire was intentionally set (arson). Fire Investigators are working in conjunction with the Shelburne Police Department to follow up on leads. The boats were a total loss valued at $45,000.
