Elizabethtown man arrested in Mineville

MINEVILLE An Elizabethtown man and his sister were arrested following a knife-point robbery at a Mineville pharmacy April 5. State police said Joseph J. Budwick, 35, was charged with felony first-degree robbery during his arraignment before Moriah Town Justice Brian Venne. Budwick was sent to the Essex County Jail at Lewis without bail. Budwick was detained moments after the robbery by local citizens wh0o held him until state troopers arrived. Moments earlier, he had gone into Hometown Pharmacy wearing a disguise and armed with a knife, police said. He struck a woman who was working at the time and demanded prescription drugs and fled with a quantity of painkillers, police said. A witness at a nearby bar saw him running from the pharmacy and tackled him, and other witnesses then helped him hold Budwick until police arrived, officials said. Budwick was charged with first-degree robbery and sent to Essex County Jail without bail. His sister, Tammy A. Grey, 39, of Witherbee was later charged with the misdemeanor of fourth-degree criminal facilitation, a misdemeanor, for driving Budwick to the pharmacy, police said. She was released pending prosecution in Moriah Town Court.
