Colchester P.D. had hands full at Wyclef Jean concert

COLCHESTER On April 4, Colchester Police officers had their hands full dealing with Wyclef Jean concert goers who were taken into protective custody due to excessive alcohol consumption. The concert, held at St. Michaels College and sponsored by the colleges student association and radio station 95XXX. Police estimated approximately 3,000 people in attendance. During the concert, two people were transported by St. Michaels Rescue to Fletcher Allen Health Care and then transported to Act 1 due to over consumption of alcohol. Nine other concert goers were taken into protective custody and transported to Act 1 as a result of too much alcohol. Five of the nine were issued paperwork for minors in possession of alcohol, according to a police news release. Four from this group were St. Michael students, the remaining five were non-students. Due to the large number of people taken into protective custody, Colchester police officers requested assistance from nearby law enforcement agencies including Winooski, Essex, Burlington and South Burlington police.
