Cardboard Derby another winning event

NORTH CREEK On March 29, Gore Mountain and WRVE The River joined forces for the eighth year to host the fun family event known as the Cardboard Derby. No matter the results, everyone in attendance had a great time as the young, and not so young, competed for a prize. The judges, who were provided by WRVE, rated the contestants in two categories. One being the completion of the downhill track while staying intact. The other being the contestants design creativity. The sleds varied in design including a chicken, a snowglobe, the bat mobile, a ski boot, and many others. Local teen Michael Allen said he, thought it was funny stuff. You dont really expect cardboard, duct tape, and paint to do that. I had a really great time watching it. The ski boot, brought by Team Looski, won the adult competition grand prize; a trip to Aruba for two. Second and third prizes for the adult competition included a trip for two to Montreal, and dinner for two at the restaurant, Real Seafood. The childrens competition, for kids under 18, also had some derby-worthy prizes, with the grand prize for children being four tickets to The Great Escape and a 08-09 season pass to Gore Mountain. This years race marked another spectacular event that the community can enjoy together.
