To the Times of Ti:
During Labor Day weekend, the residents of Schroon Lake and the many visitors from surrounding communities, enjoyed a delightful weekend thanks to the efforts of so many.
On Saturday, Sept. 1, the day began with a well-attended annual garage sale in the town park sponsored by our Senior Citizen Club, followed in the evening by our fourth annual street dance on Main Street, thanks to the Stop DWI funds allotted to the town of Schroon by our Essex County Clerk, Joe Provoncha. Topping off the evening was a spectacular fireworks display at the town beach. To add to the festivities, Sunday was the first annual duck race in the Mill Creek, sponsored by the Schroon Lake Association.
There is generally an air of disappointment with the end of summer and the thoughts of winter approaching. These events, coordinated by our local organizations, (the chamber of commerce, senior citizens and the Schroon Lake Association) uplifted everyones spirits and proved to be an excellent way to wind down from our busy summer season. We are now looking forward to the beautiful fall foliage, lots of snow and a busy winter.
All of us in the town of Schroon feel that it is important to let our county clerk know how very much we appreciate all that he does in so many little ways that people are unaware of and, especially, all that he does for the town of Schroon. Thanks, Joe!
