Jazzing things up at LPCA

LAKE PLACID The Lake Placid Center for the Arts invites you to dust off your zoot suit and get ready to sing a few "Hi-de-Ho's" as The Cab Jivers swing onto the stage for a one-night-only performance on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8 p.m.

The famous Cab Calloway Orchestra, now under the very-able baton of Cab's grandson, C. Calloway Brooks, has been dazzling audiences since the1920s. As part of this 100th Birthday Celebration Tour, you'll be transported back to the golden age at the Cotton Club when Cab Calloway himself made Harlem the hot spot of New York City nightlife. You won't forget it: smooth, shiny instruments all in a row, soloists singing and playing their hearts out, the silky smooth ensemble passage work, spicy brass harmonies, and the whole room bouncing and swaying to the irresistible rhythm.
