Oktoberfest will be held at Titus Mountain, in Malone, also Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event, which will benefit the ski patrol, will feature German food, tractor pulls, rides, a bake sale, a ski sway and music by the Busco Bandits at 1 p.m.

Also on Sept. 30 the Walk to Cure Diabetes will begin at the PARC Oval at 11:30 a.m. The walk is a 5K and benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. To register call 743-1700. The cost is $10 per person and food will be provided by the Elks.

On Thursday, Oct. 4, the Clinton County Clerks office, 137 Margaret St., will hold a Passport Night from 5 to 7 p.m. Call 565-4700 for further information.

Girls Night Out, sponsored by the Foundation of CVPH Medical Center, will be held this year on Tuesday, Oct. 9, with shows at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Glenn Giltz Auditorium on the SUNY Plattsburgh campus. This years speaker, Loretta LaRoche, was here a few years ago and is more than worth hearing if you enjoy laughing! Ms. LaRoche is an author, life coach and comedienne and puts on a wonderful show. Tickets are $15 each. Call 562-7169 for tickets and further information. Several area restaurants are offering discounts on dinner the evening of the show.

On Saturday, Oct. 20, an Arms and Legs Auction will be held at the Strand Theater to support community arts programming at the North Country Cultural Center for the Arts. Doors open at 5 p.m. with a silent auction, which will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. A live auction with local auctioneer Steve Martin will follow and will feature creative, unusual and funky pieces of furniture that will be transformed by area artists. Food, wine, beer and soda will be available. Tickets are on sale until Monday, Oct. 15, for $20; at the door they will be $25. For more information call 563-1604.

The weather has been perfect for soccer fans I know we spent several evenings last week watching the Willsboro Warrior boys and girls play, and the weather will be conducive for outdoor activities this coming week too! Columbus Day weekend is coming up, and then fall truly begins.
