Humane Society honors volunteers

The Rutland County Humane Society honored its volunteers last week at a special supper in Pittsford. Our volunteers are very important to our organization, and we wanted to take this opportunity to thank them for their support and let them know how much we appreciate them said Gretchen Goodman, executive director of the RCHS. Over 200 volunteers were invited to attend the event and more than 80 were able to join in the festivities.

Volunteers help in a variety of ways, such as transporting animals to and from veterinarian appointments, socializing dogs and cats, fostering animals in their homes and helping with mailings, special events and picking up donations.

We couldnt do it without our volunteers and we wanted them to know how much the staff, board of directors and animals appreciate their work, said Linda Dukeshire, president of the board of directors for RCHS.

RCHS also honored and thanked the three young men who helped bring McNamara, a dog stolen from RCHS over this summer, back safe and sound.

Jimmy Black, Christian Kirbach and Jack Slusarczyk were presented with certificates of appreciation by Goodman.
