Torrance defeats Ashline for Republican nod

ELIZABETHTOWN Willsboro incumbent Robert Ashline was defeated in the Republican primary earlier this week.

According to unofficial results released on Sept. 18, Lori L. Torrance collected 184 votes for the Republican nomination for supervisor, while Ashline secured 113. Ashline will appear on the ballot as an Independent in the general election on Nov. 6.

In Elizabethtown, incumbent Noel H. Merrihew III fended off a challenge from Joseph E. Martin 101-79 for the Republican nomination for town supervisor. Both will appear on the ballot as Independents, while Martin will also run as a Democrat.

Results still need to be certified.
