Students earn CPR-related certifications

Business and Services Academy students earned CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) certification through the American Heart Association, while attending the Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center this semester.

These students are members of the PAHCC Allied Health, Human Services, and Protective Services programs. As future professionals in healthcare and human development industries, they are learning the importance of emergency care.

Under the instruction of Barb Wagner, a 33-year emergency room veteran nurse at Porter Medical Center and certified American Heart Asso- ciation instructor, students learned from firsthand knowledge, interactive video and hands-on practice. Wagners experience brought traumatic scenarios to the classroom.

Students became engaged with Wagners graphic descriptions and used industry approved trainers for practical experience for treating adults, children, and infants.

The training course culminated with a written test and the issue of certification cards.
