NFL Picks: Wife to Tom: Take a chill pill

My lovely wife threatened to not allow me to watch football on Sundays anymore following Big Blues latest debacle. Apparently, I go through some sort of mood change when my favorite team gets crushed. And as the Giants go, so do my picking standings. I took a major header at 7-9 Week 2. Meanwhile, George Studnicky Jr. and Deborah Aldous posted 13-3 records to lead the week. But it was my brother-in-law, Jay Grant, who catapulted himself into first place in our standings with a 12-4 Week 2. Im happy for him, especially considering how his beloved Patriots have been raked over the coals the past week or so for being cheaters.

As for the Jints, I still firmly believe theyll get the defense straightened out and finally stop somebody from scoring. The offense looks great, but needs to stop with the stupid penalties. They go to Washington this week, which looked OK versus the hapless Eagles, and I guarantee a Big Blue victory!

Things could go either way in the Jets/Miami game, but Im giving Gang Green home field advantage in that one. The Chicago/Cowgirls game Sunday night has the potential to be a good game to watch depending on which Rex Grossman shows up to play. Of course, Ive got to go with Da Bears.

Im not sure what to think of the Cleveland/Oakland game. The Raiders came real close to upsetting Denver last week, and Cleveland shocked the world putting up huge numbers against Cincy. Theyre in Oakland, but Im going with Cleveland in a close one.

Good luck to all this weekend. Im confident Ill be in a cheery mood come Sunday afternoon!
