Law firm expands practice to include matrimonial law

Debra Whitson grew up in Poughkeepsie. She graduated from Cornell University in 1986 and Pace University School of Law in 1993. Her legal experience includes service as a New York State assistant attorney general on the staff of Attorney General Dennis Vacco. In 1994 she became an assistant Essex County district attorney and later became chief assistant district attorney concentrating in sex crimes and domestic violence. In 2006 she became a staff attorney at the New York Prosecutors Training Institute in Albany where she trained and assisted prosecutors.

Citing Ms. Whitsons extensive litigation experience Mr. Owens said, Matrimonial law requires the same courtroom skills as those of a district attorney. The skills are transferable. We were looking for someone who could learn this area of practice very quickly.
