Free caregiver retreat at SUNY Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH A free retreat for those who care for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia will be held at SUNY Plattsburgh's Sibley Hall, 101 Broad St., Tuesday, Oct. 9.

The retreat, to be held from 5:15- 7 p.m., will feature a presentation by Luis F. Sierra, Ph.D., on "Mindful Practices for Self-Care."

Entertainment will be provided by the Cumberland Bay Barber Shoppers and the Philhannonix Quartet. A light dinner will follow the presentation.

Though the event, to be hosted by the Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center and the Third Age Adult Day Center, is free and open to the public, advance reservations are requested by Monday, Sept. 24.

Respite care will be available from 5-7 p.m., though space will be limited.
