LAKE PLACID Film lovers in the Adirondacks will be able to join audiences spanning three continents to judge the next generation of filmmakers from around the world at the 10th annual Manhattan Short Film Festival screening at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. This year the festival received 456 entries from more than 32 countries. Of these, 12 finalists are selected for screening at 100 cinemas across Europe, North, South and Central America in which audience members are asked to vote for the one film they feel should win the event.
Votes are tallied and submitted to the festivals headquarters in NYC, the winner is announced on Sunday, Sept. 30, in Union Square Park, NYC. With past finalists going on to win Oscars and moving into the Hollywood feature-film industry, the festival has become a testing ground for raw, new talent.
