Woman shine in state golf championship

Molly Aronsson of Burlington Country Club won her second consecutive Vermont State Amateur Championship today at Enosburg Falls Country Club with a three-day total of 221.

Molly overcame a two-stroke deficit to Reggie Parker of Ekwanok firing a two-over par 74 to win by six strokes. The usually steady Reggie Parker faltered to an 82 and finished in second place with a total of 227. Kim Wong of Barre finished third overall and won the Junior Championship.

Another junior, Kristen Garabedian of Lake St. Catherine finished in 4th place tied with Ellen Lamson of Montague with totals of 235. Catherine Shomo of Rutland, also a junior, finished in 6th at 238. Kristin Mahoney and Stacie Eaton, both of Rutland, finished seventh and eighth respectively. Former VSWGA president, Elizabeth Walker of Brattleboro with 9th and Molly Tullar of Lake Morey was tenth.

Cheryl Hoar of Burlington won the low net crown with a three-day net total of 206. Rutland Country Club won the Buxton Cup by seven strokes over Burlington Country Club
