Otters make it two in a row under new QB

Ross rushed for 86 yards on 16 carries, including a five-yard first half touchdown run. He also caught four passes for 56 yards. Kurtis Petty added a 13 yard TD reception for the victorious Blue Devils. The Devils improved to 2 - 1 on the year while Rice fell to 0 - 3.

MSJ continued to struggle last Saturday losing in South Burlington 37 - 0 to fall to 0 - 3 on the year. Rebel quarterback Ernie Bragg completed 6 of 9 passes, with three of those passes resulting in touchdowns. Taylor Devarney caught a seven yard touchdown pass, Josh Varney hauled in an eight yarder and Sol Bayer-Pacht had a 23-yard TD reception. In addition to his eight yard touchdown reception Devarney carried the ball ten times for 97 yards including a 26-yard touchdown jaunt. The Rebels also got a 29-yard touchdown run from Justin Lynch and a second half safety from their defense. South Burlington improved to 2 - 1 with the win.

In a battle of two 2 - 0 teams played last Friday evening in Middlebury the hometown Tigers prevailed, handing the Rutland Raiders their first loss 19 - 9. The Tigers built up a 13 - 0 halftime thanks to touchdown runs by Sam Jones and Chad Foley. Rutland cut the lead to 13 - 7 early in the second half on an 11-yard touchdown run from Connor Beerworth. They pulled even closer when a mishandled punt resulted in a Raider safety, making it a 13 - 9 ball game. But the Tigers then scored again late in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Foley exploded for a 58 yard run from scrimmage to set up a nine yard touchdown run from Lance Robinson.

Robinson, who had a 72 - yard run from scrimmage to set up the Tigers first score, wound up with an impressive 102 yards gained on a mere six carries. Foley had a solid rushing game himself, carrying the ball nine times for 86 yards. Jones only threw four passes, but he was perfect going four-for-four for forty-four yards. Beerworth had 15 carries for 69 yards for Rutland who fell to 2 - 1 with the loss. The Tigers remain perfect at 3 - 0.
