Sentinels race to invitational title

Ticonderoga raced to victory at the Saranac Lake Invitational in boys cross country action Sept. 8.

Lee Berube won the 3.1-mile race for the Sentinels in 17 minutes, 47 seconds.

Brendan Carberry was ninth for Ti, followed by Jay Berube in 14th and Mike Lonergan 15th.

Ticonderoga tallied 63 points for the win. Host Saranac Lake was second with 69 points.

In the girls race, Ticonderoga fielded an incomplete team.

Katie Karkoski took 12th place for the Sentinels.

Ticonderoga wins
Lee Berube led Ticonderoga to victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys cross country action Sept. 6.

Berube won the 3.1-mile race in 17 minutes, 12 seconds as his Sentinels beat Plattsburgh, 27-28, Seton Catholic, 19-34, and Lake Placid, 25-34.

Brendan Carberry was eighth for Ti, followed by Mike Lonergan ninth, Jay Berube 12th and Jared Best 13th.

In the girls meet, Ticonderoga bat Seton Catholic, 15-50, and Lake Placid, 15-50. It lost to Plattsburgh, 19-40.

Katie Karkoski was fourth for the Sentinels in 25:58.

Amber Perkins took 11th, Miranda Ross 12th and Brittany Holt 16th for Ti.

Sentinels sweep
Ticonderoga took the top five places to sweep AuSable Valley and Peru in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference boys cross country action Sept. 11.

Lee Berube won the race for Ti in 18 minutes, 3 seconds.

He was followed by Mike Lonergan, Brendan Carberry, Jay Berube and Jared Best. David Cook was 12th.

The Sentinels won both races by a score of 15-50.

In the girls meet, Ticonderoga lost to AVCS, 22-33, and to Peru, 22-33.

Katie Karkoski led Ti with a fifth place finish.

Amber Perkins was seventh, Miranda Ross 11th, Brittany Holt 13th and Colleen Walls 15th for the Sentinels.
