NFL Picks: Not the best of starts for Big Blue; Cheaters over the Chargers

Not exactly the start I was hoping for from Big Blue, but its hard to be too disappointed in them after putting up 35 points in Dallas. They had their chances, but the defense really let them down. I firmly believe thatll improve quickly.

As for the picks, a strong 13-3 performance from Eddie Munoz has him in sole possession of first place, with a whole host of others just a game or two back. This has to have been one of the strongest opening weeks for pickers overall weve had in the 8 years of this little contest.

Now that Ive got a week of tallying under my belt, Ive got a few technical things to address. First and foremost, I need to remind everyone to be very careful when submitting picks to include every game: There were several pickers who left a game out, and Ive got to treat those as a loss. Also Im using a new method for calculating results which is a daunting task with nearly 50 people participating that will reduce the amount of time it takes me each week. Heres how you can help me: If you are able to e-mail your picks, thats the most desirable. Of course Ill still accept faxed or mailed copies, but if you can e-mail your picks listing only the winners by the teams cities (except for Giants and Jets). And if you can submit them in the order theyre listed on the News Enterprise pick sheet, thatd be awesome! Ill remind you all of this throughout the season.

One other note: After discussing my severe disadvantage of having to pick so early, my colleagues here at Denton agree that its not necessary for me to pick a week in advance, since there are plenty of witnesses here.
