Celebrating 50 Years at Johnsburg High

NORTH CREEK On July 7, 2007, the Johnsburg Central School class of 1957 gathered together to celebrate 50 years since leaving the hallowed halls of the high school.

From a graduating class of 32 students, 10 members and some of their spouses attended the annual Alumni Dinner held at the Copperfield Inn of North Creek. The alumni that attended included Dean Baker, Estelle Brooks Garrett, Pat Cunningham, Angele Demers Carpenter, Joan Haak Morrison, Peg Leddick McLean, Harry Monroe, Ted Patton, Glen Smith, and Norma Waterston Griffin.

Social hour was 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and we had a chance to renew acquaintances with our classmates and members of the other classes. After dinner Peg Leddick McLean spoke for the class, sharing some thoughts and memories of those days no so long ago. We reminisced about how North Creek has changed in 50 years. The class was divided because there were 57 pupils. The class was on 2 separate floors of the school.

Mike Leddick, Pegs brother, provided music and sing-a-long fun from the 1950s. Peg Leddick McLean and Angele Demers Carpenter presented a plaque, to the Alumni Association. This plaque contained the copy of the original alma mater which was written by the class of 1957.

Estelle Brooks Garrett and Norma Waterston Griffin traveled all the way from Florida to attend the celebration. Dean Baker traveled from Maine.

Other members from the class include: Roger Allen, Ed Beavers, Catherine Buttler Stevens, Lulubelle Cleveland Guens, Margarita Cleveland Harpp, Donald Durkin, Margaret Farrell Lofthouse, Tom Fitzgerald, Eugene Galuski, John Gobo, Marshall Harrinton, Gail Millington Campbell, JoAnn McNally Cheverette, Helen Otis, Art Perryman, Joyce Richards Goens, Anne Roblee Matkovics, Audrey Russess Halse, Helen Sheriden Miner, Fred Steward, Tom Walton, and Georgia West Ball.

The members of the class are looking forward to getting together again in the near future, and are considering creating a web page for the class of 1957 so check with us for future communications.
