Busy ballot for primaries

QUEENSBURY The primary elections this year have a full ballot, and the polls will be open on Sept. 18. Primary races allow voters who are registered in a political party may vote for the candidate of their choice in that party. Republicans can choose which Republican candidate they would like to see on the November ballot and so forth. Independent candidates do not appear on primary ballots since they are not registered with a political parties. However, candidates registered with the Independence Party can appear on primary ballots.

There is one Democratic primary race this year, and that is for the Warrensburg Highway Superintendent race. Robbie Hall and Wendell Beadnell are both looking to take the Democratic spot in the November General Election. Both are also on the Republican primary line for Warrensburg Highway Superintendent, along with Gerald Pennock Jr. and Rudolph Squires. Other Warrensburg primaries include four Republicans looking for two Republican spots on the ballot. They are Dean Ackley, Jonathan Geraghty, Austin Markey and Mark Trapasso.

In an unusual primary, County Republican Committee District 4 in Warrensburg has two seats and John Alexander, Austin Markey and Donald Russ Roseway are looking to be among the two spots available on the ballot.

Thurmans town board has two spots, and Glenda Deull, Leon Galusha, Joan Harris, James Ligon, David Robinson and Thomas Stoddard are on the primary for the pair.

The Bolton Supervisors race has four Republicans looking for the one spot on the ballot. Incumbent Alexander Gabriels, Ronald Conover, Albert Huck and Town Clerk Kathleen Simmes are all looking for the Republican spot. Richard Sammis and Edward Stewart both seek the Republican spot for town justice in Bolton.

Republican primaries in Horicon include incumbent Supervisor Ralph Bentley and challenger Robert Olson, and two seats on the town board being sought by Joseph Dooris, Kenneth Higgins, Ruth Assman and Shirley Hayes. Highway Superintendent Paul Smith is facing a primary challenge from Darian Granger.
