West named assistant to the CSJ president

The College of St. Joseph officials announced the appointment of Melissa West as the new assistant to the president. West began her position at the college on July 9.

Wests academic credentials include a B.A. degree in English from SUNY Plattsburgh with a minor in Womens Studies.

West comes from Loudoun County, Va., where she was the public information specialist for six years with the Loudoun County Public Library system. Prior to this, she worked for the marketing/public relations Department at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

During her tenure with the library system, Wests department won numerous public relations awards including the American Library Associations John Cotton Dana Award for Outstanding Public Relations in 2006.

Wests background in public relations, program planning, marketing and grant-writing will prove beneficial to the colleges expanding campus.
