Music Benefits Youth Sports

To the editor:

Thank you to all concertgoers who made the Labor Day Weekend Coffeehouse a happening event. Despite the busy weekend, many people were able to enjoy the performance, and the music was well worth all the effort it took to put the show together. Thanks to local and traveling young recording artists Lowell Thompson (solo acoustic), Rachel Ries, Ari Bolles and Tyler Bolles for their inspiring, beautiful music!

I would like to especially mention the great work that is done by coffeehouse coproducers Mary Provencher and Sean Costello. Mary really knows how to set up a show and Sean provides professional sound mixing for the music. We have a great team and we love the appreciation you give us!

This last coffeehouse doubled as a Charlotte Sports Program Scholarship Fundraiser. After event expenses we raised over $300 for youth sports scholarships to town programs. A generous $500 donation from Steve, Laura and Dallas Mack in memory of Trevor and Melissa Mack will help secure the scholarship fund for this year. The goal is for all Charlotte kids to participate in town offerings regardless of financial constraints. Thanks to a prior donation from the Mack family, the youth sports scholarship fund has met this goal to date.

The Aug. 31 coffeehouse was enhanced with a drawing for several local prizes! A big thank you goes out to the Pelkeys (two bottles of wine from the Charlotte Village Winery), Clark Hinsdale III ($20 certificate redeemable at the Charlotte Berry Farm stand or for fall raspberry picking), Nick Cowles (2 $5 pick your own certificates--good for admission to the Sept. 9 Small Farms Food Festival), David Allen (1 quart of delicious maple syrup), Woody Keppel (2 DVDs of the classic film Woodhead Saves the Farm), Lowell Thompson (1 self-titled 2006 CD) and Rachel Ries (a CD of the winners choice!) We are thankful for your generosity.

Stay tuned for announcements of the 2007-08 concert series. If you havent been to a concert at 212 Ferry Road [Charlotte Senior Center], what are you waiting for? Its fun, local and the music really satisfies.
