Wayne N. Benedict

WILLSBORO Wayne N. Benedict, 90, of Willsboro, NY died at CVPH Medical Center Friday August 31, 2007. He was born in Plattsburgh March 23, 1917 the son of Roy and Ethelyn (Calkins) Benedict. He was a lifetime, faithful, member of the Willsboro United Methodist Church. He was the church treasurer for over 50 years. He also was the organizer and ran the taping of the weekly Services for the shut-ins. Wayne served in the US Army during WWII and was a former member of the Willsboro American Legion. He returned from the war to work for the New York and Penn Paper Mill in Willsboro, when that closed in 1965 he went to work for the Georgia Pacific Co. in Plattsburgh. He retired from there as a mill foreman.

Wayne is survived by a sister-in-law Rita Benedict, 2 nephews Marshall and Rick Benedict, 2 nieces Lynn Benedict and Susan Henderson and several cousins.

A Memorial Service was held at the Willsboro United Methodist, followed by burial in Memorial Cemetery, Essex Road, Willsboro. Reverend David Smith officiated. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations in his memory be made to the Willsboro United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the Willsboro Fire Department. Huestis Funeral Home, Willsboro is in charge of arrangements.
