I had the opportunity to speak briefly with Sister Mary Agnes after the Mass. Not only has she been praying for me all those years, but Ticonderoga had never been far from her mind. For over 50 years she has been praying for all of us.
I am reminded of what an old Native American once said about Blessed Kateri Tekawitha. The priest had noted that the Native Americans who attended Mass in the little chapel always surrounded Blessed Kateri. When asked why, the elderly woman answered simply: She is close to God and we want to be close to her.
Sister Mary Agnes is close to God and the people of Ticonderoga need to know we indeed have a hidden treasure.
