Supervisor doesn't deserve credit

To the editor:

After reading the article entitled Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union announces plans to build Elizabethtown Branch in the Aug. 25, 2007 issue of the Valley News, I feel that the time has come to set the record straight.

Elizabethtown Supervisor Noel Merrihew had no part in locating the Barkley property on Court Street for the Ticonderoga Federal Credit Union. With all due respect, CEO of TFCU, Gregory Johnson, is well aware of who contacted him about this property and brought the seller and buyer to the table. It was not Noel Merrihew as the article and photo would have you believe. In a conversation with Gregory Johnson on Aug. 27, 2005, he agreed with me and apologized for the wording in the article.

Mr. Merrihews willingness to publicly accept credit for something good that he did not do, is just one more reason why Elizabethtown is in need of a new supervisor.
