PORT HENRY Moriah will have a veteran line up when it takes the field for Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls soccer play this fall.
Coach Jeanette Rotellas Vikings return 12 players from a year ago.
Moriah should be especially strong on defense, where six players are back Ashley OConnor, Kathrine Zelinski, Kim Whalen, Chelsea McKiernan, Megan Badger and Elizabeth Schofield. Courtney Waldron is the lone newcomer.
Jenny Tesar, Tiffany Baker and Mayumi Wagstaff-Blaise are back at midfield and are joined by rookie Torri Fernandez.
Kearstin Petro and Sapphire Wintle are back at forward. Theyre joined by newcomers Kayla Gagnon and Chyna Allen.
Elizabeth Wallace returns to goal. Shell be backed up by Waldron.
Petro and Wintle make a great offensive combination with Tesar, Whalen and McKiernan controlling the midfield, Rotella said. Zelinski, OConnor, Badger and Schofield should stack up the defense. Baker and Blaise will add to the midfield line up.
The newcomers fit in well with the veteran players to make a great team, the coach added. Chyna Allen has the speed and skill to fit in with the offense. Fernandez, Waldron and Gagnon are learning the game and aggression from their veteran teammates.
Assisting Rotella on the sidelines this fall is assistant coach Gerry Goulet.
