To the Times of Ti:
On behalf of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Essex County, I would like to thank Arielle Vilardo and her Venture Scouts for organizing the first CASA Softball Tournament.
CASA is a not-for-profit organization that recruits and trains community volunteers to act as advocates for abused and neglected children involved in court proceedings in Essex County.
Funds raised as a result of this tourney will assist this program greatly in providing a voice for every at-risk child.
This tournament took place Aug. 25 and 26 at the Ticonderoga Little League Park with a number of teams, not only donating their time and talents, but the $200 team registration fee as well.
A big thank you to the many sponsors who donated gift certificates for the purpose of a raffle, the umpires who officiated the numerous games throughout the weekend and John Sharkey for providing the team t-shirts and trophies. A thank you as well to the Moriah varsity cheerleaders who were on hand to provide cold drinks and food throughout the weekend. The T-Train team took home the first place trophy, with the Agri-Mark team taking second place and the Mountain Lake Services team placing third.
Thank you to Arielle and all those involved in making this tournament a success. We hope to seeall of you again next year!
