Opera buffs plan trip

Opera Company of Middlebury, which over the last four years has produced Carmen, Tosca, A Dinner Engagement and A Little Night Music offers its third opera tour this fall to New York City. Highlights of the tour will be tickets to two operas, The Magic Flute at the Metropolitan Opera and Cinderella at New York City Opera.

Included in the tour are transportation on a luxury 57-seat passenger coach and orchestra seating for Saturday night to The Magic Flute by Mozart at the Metropolitan Opera and Sunday afternoon to Cendrillon (Cinderella) by Jules Massenet at City Opera. Doug Anderson will provide opera insights and discussion en route to New York.

Trip goers will have Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning as free time to visit museums or just enjoy the pre-Thanksgiving atmosphere of Manhattan Island. Meals are on your own; rooms at a discounted rate are on hold for Opera Company of Middlebury at the Belvedere Hotel on 48th Street in the Theater District. The Belvedere Hotel, an Art Deco monument built in 1928, was restored in 2000. www.belvederehotelnyc.com. The bus departs Middlebury at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, returning to Middlebury following the Sunday matinee performance on Nov. 18.
