Heintzelman Library celebrates centennial

BRANT LAKE State Senator Betty Little and Assemblywoman Theresa Sayward were among the honored guests at he 100th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Heintzelman Library located in Brant Lake.

The celebration was held at the Chestertown Conservation Club because there is no place for such a large event to be held in the Town of Horicon. Almost 200 people enjoyed an old fashioned pig roast and round and square dance.

The event was planned by the Friends of the Horicon Free Public Library and the Horicon Historical Society.

The Rotary Club raised money for their scholarship fund and their other programs by selling beer and wine and by operating a roulette wheel.

Children participated in sack races and other children's activities. Hans Buck from Adirondack was winner of the 50/50 drawing.

The Historical Society still has some of their limited edition hand cancelled postmarks that they had commissioned for this event. If anyone is interested in purchasing them, they can buy them at the Horicon Museum.
