Fort Ti to host encampment

TICONDEROGA Fort Ticonderoga will be swarming with British, German, Continental and Native forces on Sept. 8 and 9 as a battle from the American Revolution is reenacted.

Each day at 2 p.m., the Revolutionary War encampment will turn into an authentic battle scene.

An annual event, the Revolutionary War encampment focuses its attention on the American Revolution. Hundreds of re-enactors remember Ticonderogas pivotal role in the early war years by portraying battle and encampment activities.

In the morning, a guided tour of the encampment will be available, introducing visitors to 18th Century life. They will be able to see an authentic portrayal of how soldiers and their families lived on campaign, including what they wore, what they ate, and the kinds of duties they performed. The camps are open to guests throughout the day.

The Revolutionary War encampment also features Sutler Row, where vendors sell a variety of reproduction goods including wool, linen, muskets and swords.

A detailed schedule of events is available at the fort admissions desk.

Members of the Friends of Fort Ticonderoga can attend the Saturday evening concert presented in camp by the Fort Ticonderoga Fife and Drum Corps. An artillery feu de joie (fire of joy), a display by the massed British and American cannon crews, will follow.
