Eugene E. Manley

SCHROON LAKE Eugene E. Manley 67 died Saturday August 25, 2007 at his home after an extended illness.

Gene was born September 17, 1939 in Ticonderoga, NY the son of the late LeRoy Manley and Eleanor Hebert Manley.

Gene devoted much his life to Lions Club activities helping many people with sight and diabetes problems. He was a Lions Club member for 43 years, a Life Member, past District Governor of District 20W, a Melvin Jones Fellow, and a recipient of the Robert J. Uplinger award. He was a Bronze Knight of the Blind at the Lions Eye Institute, a Senior Master Key Holder; he received two International Lions Presidents Leadership awards and many National and International Certificates of Appreciation.

Gene was a Life member of BPO Elks lodge #1494 Ticonderoga, NY. He was a member of American Legion Post # 846 Canisteo NY.

Gene was a veteran of the US Air Force having served from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1961.

Gene enjoyed wood working and gardening, he especially loved his family.

Gene is survived by his wife of 42 years, Bette E. Tyrrell Manley of Schroon Lake, His daughter Torri and her husband Jerry Shufelt, his son John and his wife Jennifer Manley, and his granddaughter Ayla Shufelt, all of Schroon Lake. His mother Eleanor Hebert Manley of Ticonderoga, his brother Donald Manley of Canisteo, NY, his sisters, Sandra Cummings of Orlando Fla., Beverly Burke and Sharon Manley both of Ticonderoga, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday morning August 29, 2007 at 10:00 Am at the Edward L. Kelly Funeral Home 1019 Rt. 9 Schroon Lake. Interment will follow in the Severance Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.

The family suggests memorials take the form of donations to High Peaks Hospice, 4314 Main St, Port Henry, and NY 12974
