Welcome to Labor Day Weekend and are you like a lot of us, wondering just where the summer went? It was a good one, but it did fly by! I am sure we will get lots more nice weather, but the summer feeling is gone now. Safe travels to all of our summer visitors that are leaving us this weekend.
Plattsburgh Youth Hockey is hosting a pig roast fundraiser on Sept. 8 at the Naked Turtle. The roast, which will feature pork, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, corn and watermelon, will begin at 1 p.m. There will be live entertainment by The Velmas. Congratulations to Tom Livsey, who recorded his first hole-in-one at Ausable Valley Golf Course on the 9th hole, which is 168 yards long. The witness was John Livsey.
The Bloomingdale Firemens Field Day will be held on Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The feature act will be April Wine, a well-known Canadian band; there will be an inflatable ride village, carnival games, concessions, a chicken barbecue, and much more. Concert tickets are $20. For advance tickets call 523-9771. No dogs or coolers allowed. Also on Sept. 1 the Friends of the Chazy Library will hold their annual book sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Special Athletes for Special Olympics fundraiser will be held at the SUNY Plattsburgh Fieldhouse from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a 2-mile walk at 3 p.m. and registration will begin at 2 p.m. A cookout by Sodexho will be held for $7. Come on by and meet your favorite Cardinal athlete and play some basketball games too!
