Thurman Lewellyn Cross

MINEVILLE Thurman Lewellyn Cross passed away suddenly on October 19, 2007 at CVPH Medical Center surrounded by his family and his companion. He was born October 15, 1948 in Elizabethtown, NY, the son of Irene and Lewellyn (Babe) Thurman Cross. He is survived by his mother Irene Cross of Lewis, NY; his sisters, Louella (Jane) Hogdon of Homer, Alaska, Judy Gardener of Halfmoon, NY, and Kathy McClurg of Hillsdale, NY ; his brother Tracy Cross of Lewis, NY; his children, Jayson Cross and Tania Cross of Housantic, Ma; a grandson Dominic Lewellyn Cross, whom he adored and loved spending time with; his long time companion who he loved dearly, Ella Fields and her daughter Brittany of Mineville and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Thurman was a member of the Town of Moriah Ambulance Squad and the Moriah Fire Dept., where he spent a lot of his time helping the community he lived in. Thurman was well known by all and was highly respected for all his dedication. He was a very hard worker and owned Crosss Painting and Poormans Fishing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Calling hours will be held Tuesday October 23, 2007 from 6-9 pm at the Harland Funeral Home in Port Henry. A Firemans Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Lewis Congregational Church in Lewis, NY. Immediately following the service friends and family can gather at the Moriah Firehouse where a buffet will be served in Thurmans memory. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Moriah Ambulance Squad or to the Moriah Fire Dept. This is what Thurman would have wanted us to do.
