Red Cross planning disaster classes

CHESTERTOWN The American Red Cross Adirondack Saratoga is planning an upcoming disaster services training program as they help area communities prepare for potential disasters through the "Be Red Cross Ready" campaign. A class will be held at the Chester Municipal Center on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. While the program is geared toward people who qualify for state Disaster Leave Law, such as state, county, municipal and school employees, it is open to the public. "Preparedness and vigilance are the hallmarks of our new national reality, said Eileen Reardon of the local chapter of the Red Cross. Everyone needs to know what to do and where to go in the event of a disaster." All Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people. For more information on disaster services training, please contact Cheryl Murphy at 792-6545 or email murphyc@usa.redcross.org.
