About Mary Stafford Moran Mason West: The first time I met Mary she was about seven years old and busily sweeping the kitchen of her father's house. Having lost her mother when her baby sister was born. We were friends from then on, I think. One of my fondest memories is of her and that sister dressed as George and Martha Washington doing a cute dance as their father played the fiddle. The dance was called something that sounded to me like "The Chatise" . I can't find it in the dictionary but do remember the tune and some of the words. They were adorable! I think we were friends from then on. It seemed as though she had more than her share of heavy burdens but always stayed strong under them all. A very special person was Mary.
