Motorcycle ride a success

To the editor: The weather cooperated once again for the 2nd annual T.H.E. (Touch, Heal, Empower) Loop motorcycle ride to raise awareness and monies for cancer patients. Forty-four motorcycles, 60 riders (two which were dogs) and a convertible carrying four supervisors raised just over $5,000 which will be divided between The Image Fund at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital and buying an Oncology Treatment Chair for Saranac Lake's Adirondack Medical Center. Thank you to this year's sponsors: Raquette Lake Hotel & Tap Room, Raquette Lake Supply, The Wood's Inn (Inlet), Hard Time Cafe' (Eagle Bay), and Hoss's Country Corner (Long Lake). Thank you to the Town of Long Lake, especially Theresa Taylor in parks & recreation for the use of the Mt. Sabattis Pavillion. Kevin Kiel, thank you for heading the policing of our group and keeping us safe. Thank you Bennie Beauchamp and Tom Gregory for helping at the intersections. Thank you Ed Gale for chauffeuring the ladies in the convertible. Thanks to Dorothy Dwyer, Maureen Schanz, Claire's Therapeutic & Massage, Pink Ribbon Tea Club, Hillscape Enterprises, Manor Farm and a "Friend" for the raffle items; Raquette Lake Library for the loan of a coffee maker; chili makers; Vito and Simone for the delicious cornbread; Joe and Carol Conigliaro for the apples, cider and rolls; Mitch for making copies; volunteers at the Pavilion Jay, Ed, Lynne, Dwyer family. An extra special thank you to Jennifer Blakeman, Michelle Thomas, Carol Conigliaro and Maureen Schanz for helping from start to finish and allowing me to ride without any worry. Thank you Kathy Beauchamp for your support throughout the year. Thank you and Bennie for donating to T.H.E. Loop this past winter while guest bartending at The Wood's Inn. The third annual T.H.E. Loop will be Oct. 4, 2008. Mark your calendars. Everyone who rode, donated, sponsored and pledged made a difference to many patients and that is what it is all about. Mark Lamphear
