Minerva Historical Society Holds Open House at Irishtown Schoolhouse

MINERVA It has been said that in its heyday, the size of the class attending the Irishtown one room Schoolhouse could be more than two dozen. On Saturday, 32 people attended the Irishtown Schoolhouse open house to celebrate the Adirondack Architectural Heritage Award the Minerva Historical Society recently received in recognition of the Societys efforts to restore the one-room schoolhouse. Guests at the open house enjoyed fresh punch and homemade cookies while viewing the renovations to the schoolhouse. On display in the schoolhouse were photos of the restoration work, as well as photos and historical documents pertaining to the students who attended the school and those who taught there.
