Many hopefuls in the upcoming election have been visiting in the community. What happened to the days when pencils, pens and candy bars were passed out from candidates? We have some of the old pencils saved for our future museum. Three days left in October to donate winter coats to the Warrensburg Laundry, which will clean them and give them to the Coats for Kids campaign. Wearing birthday smiles this week are Bob Mosher on Oct. 28, June Beers on Oct. 29, Betty Peck and Jonathan Roberts on Oct. 30, Howard Greenholtz and Charles Rice on Oct. 31, Lillian Parker on Nov. 1 and Jerry Cameron on Nov. 2. Get well wishes are out to Richard Wormwood, Bob Witz, Bruce Sherman, Al Ingraham, Bo Rounds, Barb Keene, John Cooper, Herma Baker and Elsie DeCota. Ruth and Art Wadsworth spent a short vacation at their home on Garnet Lake Road and recently boarded a plane to their El Paso, Texas home. Marie Allison, tax collector, has to withdraw her name from the ballot because she took a new position that has created a conflict of interest. She wants to let everyone know that she enjoyed meeting all the folks and hopes her withdrawal wont create a problem. Fall back

Two scrapbooking classes were held in September and were enjoyed by residents. Other activities were the September birthday celebration, a trip to the balloon festival, apple picking, two shopping trips to Glens Falls, and a pet visit. The annual family picnic on Sept. 9 had many visiting family members and friends. There was also a mens breakfast held at Westmount on Sept. 13. Meetings
The quilting group meets on Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at the town hall. For information, call 623-2633. Meet the candidates night is Friday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. The tentative budget meeting was held Oct. 1 and three residents attended. It was only the beginning of other workshops on the 2008 town budget. Warren County flu and pneumonia clinics will be in the Warrensburg town hall on Monday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. until noon and at the Chestertown Municipal Center on Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. until noon. Flu shots cost $20 for flu and pneumonia shots are $36. Time is getting short to get those shoe boxes filled for hungry children overseas. The Operation Christmas Child, through the Samaritans Purse Program, needs help getting gifts. Gail Needham has volunteered to pick up any filled boxes that are left at the town hall. Suggested items include school paper, pens, crayons, notebooks, toothpaste and brush, hair necessities, small toys and coloring books. Deadline is Nov. 8. Date change
The annual Old Fashioned Christmas Bazaar, previously set for Nov. 17, has been changed to Saturday, Nov. 24. Call 623-2909 or 3953 to reserve a table for your sale.
